Washington, PA — Lightning struck for Beach House and Dragon Striker Saturday (April 8) at The Meadows, as each shot the Lightning Lane for Tony Hall and trainer Rich Gillock to capture a $15,000 opening leg division of the Unlocked Pace for 3-year-old colts and geldings.
The series honors Unlocked, a top performer and track record holder at The Meadows for trainer Norm Parker and owner Megan Rogers Racing Stables.
Beach House stalked the favorite, Southwind Yukon, from the pocket before knifing inside and downing him by three-quarters of a length in 1:53.1. Town Speaker finished third. Harry Locke campaigns Beach House, a son of Somebeachsomewhere-Sara Sue.
Hall gave Dragon Striker much the same trip. The 3-year-old son of Dragon Again-Lady’s Portrait blew by the leader from the pocket and prevailed in 1:54.3. The first-over Showing My Hand raced well for second, a head back, with Subliminal third. Bob Key bred and owns Dragon Striker.
Dave Palone, Jim Pantaleano, Mike Wilder and Hall each piloted three winners on the 12-race card.
