Ft. Washington, MD — Last week, Handsome Henry K was sent off as a heavy favorite in the $12,000 Open Pace at Rosecroft. Leaving from post seven, he tucked in fourth, but was dead in the water after Rock On Precious hit the half in :56.2.
Tuesday night (Sept. 27), driver Jonathan Roberts made sure that would not happen again, cutting out the mile from the same post and scoring in 1:51.2. Howard Taylor owns the 7-year-old son of Western Ideal and he is conditioned by Michael Hall. Diamondkeeper (Roger Plante) was second and Hi Sir (Russell Foster) was third.
In the $12,000 Open Trot, 23-year old Jason Thompson continued his strong start to the meet by guiding track record holder Chinese Cuisine to a wire-to-wire score in 1:54.1. Second choice BWT TAJ (Foster) was second and Five Towns (Roberts) was third. Tina Duer is the owner and trainer of Chinese Cuisine.
Thompson also scored a victory with Cabbie’s Delight in race eight, who was returning after a month off and returned $20.60.
Brian Burton had a driving triple, while Roberts and Bier joined Thompson with two wins each.
