Harrington, DE — Harrington Raceway’s 65th season of live racing will resume Sunday (August 14).
After a six-week hiatus, live racing will return on a Sunday through Thursday schedule until October 27. Post time is 5:30 p.m. nightly.
A variety of free entertainment for the family will be available upon Sunday’s re-opening, including face painting, balloon art, pony rides and a petting zoo. Early birds that are at least 18 years of age will receive a $3 betting voucher beginning at 5 p.m. (while supplies last).
As for the racing program, 14 races are scheduled as leading driver Ross Wolfenden will be back to defend his title by competing in all but three races. Harrington’s leading trainer Wayne Givens has seven entrants on the program.
In conjunction with the USTA’s Strategic Wagering Program, Harrington Raceway will again offer a $5,000 guaranteed pool on its Pick-4 wager (races 3-6), however, a new day for the guarantee has been scheduled. Thursdays throughout the remainder of the meet will feature the minimum pool guarantee. Pick-4 wagering is available nightly beginning with the third race.
Harrington’s signature event, the fifth annual Bobby Quillen Memorial Final, is slated for September 19. Eliminations will be held on September 12. A total of 51 nominations, including some of the sport’s top older pacers, have been made eligible to the prestigious event. Last year’s event was won by Foiled Again, who shattered the Harrington track record with a 1:50.1 performance.
