Nichols, NY — Helpisontheway (Tim Tetrick) won the $39,900 first division of the New York Sire Stakes for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings at Tioga Downs on Friday (June 15), setting the track record for sophomore trotting colts with a time of 1:52.2.
It was one of the three divisions of the NYSS that were held on Friday.

Dan Patch Award winner Fourth Dimension (Brian Sears) made his 3-year-old debut on Friday. He would lead to a first quarter in :27 and worked hard getting the lead. He led them to the half in :56 and three-quarters in 1:24.1.
Helpisontheway ($5.00) sat back patiently and would make his move in the stretch to blow right by to win in track record time and beat his personal best by two seconds. Fourth Dimension settled for second. Classichap (Trond Smedshammer) finished third.
Helpisontheway is a colt by Chapter Seven. Trained by Linda Toscano for owners Camelot Stable Inc., The Bay’s Stable, and Little E, it was his second win in 2018 and career win number three.
The $40,600 second division of the NYSS went to Voss Volo (Corey Callahan).
Yuge (Scott Zeron) led the pack into a first quarter of :27.2. Cruising In Style (Anthony MacDonald) took over and led to a half in :56.3. Voss Volo ($9.50) went to work in the backstretch, rushing by to take over before hitting three-quarters in 1:24.4. Owned by Pinske Stables and William Wiswell, while trained by John Butenschoen, he would just cruise in the stretch to win in 1:53.4. On The Ropes (Ake Svanstedt) came up to finish second. Seven Iron (Tim Tetrick) was third.
Voss Volo is a gelding by Credit Winner. He won for the first time this year and secured career win number two.
The Veteran (Tim Tetrick) easily won the $39,900 third division of the NYSS.
The Veteran ($3.00) went gate-to-wire, putting up all the numbers (:29, :57.4, 1:26, 1:54.1). Owned by Bill Donovan, Stephen Michaels, Jim Winske and trainer George Ducharme, the colt never had an anxious moment. Southwind Chrome (Scott Zeron) was second best. Fashion Forever (Corey Callahan) finished third.
The Veteran is a colt by Muscle Mass. It was his third win of the season and it was career victory number five.
