from Hollywood Gaming Dayton Raceway
Dayton, OH — With Opening Day at Hollywood Gaming Dayton Raceway just around the corner (Monday, Sept. 12 matinee), pre-meet qualifying races have been scheduled for this coming Tuesday (Sept. 6) at noon.
Entries can be made via the USTA’s Online Entry system or by calling the race office at 937.235.7860 on Monday morning from 9-10 a.m.
Condition sheets for the first week of racing are currently available under the “Horsemen” tab at www.ustrotting.com.
Owners and trainers of good older Ohio-sired horses are reminded that Hollywood Dayton is home to four $50,000 Ohio Sires Stakes “Doc Mossbarger Memorial” championships on Saturday (Oct. 15). All Ohio-sired horses, four years old and up, are eligible to these races, which will be divided by both sex and gait.
There was no nomination necessary, but there will be a starting fee of $500 due on race night for each contestant that draws into one of the races. The fields will be limited, per the conditions, to the nine leading money winners in races conducted at Ohio commercial tracks and Ohio fairs between Jan. 1 and Oct. 1, 2016. Horses are required to have raced a minimum of five times in Ohio during that time period. All that is necessary is a declaration entry with the box closing for these races on Tuesday (Oct. 11) at 10 a.m.
Hollywood Dayton will also host the $200,000 Ohio Fairs Championship Night on Saturday (Oct. 8), with each of the eight 2- and 3-year-old pace and trot races featuring a $25,000 purse. Horses that have accumulated the most points at any of Ohio’s fairs and who enter by Oct. 4 at 10 a.m. will comprise the nine-horse championship fields. Points standings are available on the Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association website.
