Hollywood Dayton to broadcast in high definition in 2021

Dayton, OH — Hollywood Dayton Raceway management is pleased to announce that the track will feature a high definition video signal for the first time when its eighth season of live racing commences on Friday (Sept. 24).

The live simulcast video will be broadcast in high definition, as well as the signal to all the in-house monitors and replays.

“High definition transmission will greatly enhance the viewing experience for our patrons, both on and off track,” said Director of Racing Jason Bluhm.

Hollywood Dayton will also feature higher purses, a new post time, a new betting format and a new ‘passing lane’ when the 70-day 2021 live racing season opens soon.

Purses will average approximately 40 percent higher than the previous two years. Regular post time will be 4 p.m. on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday schedule. The exotic bets wagering menu will include a plethora of opportunities with 100 percent carryover provisions when no winning combination is sold.

“These wagers have been met with enthusiasm by bettors at any track that has tried them,” said Bluhm. “They create instant opportunities where patrons can vie for larger payoffs, which is what they want.”

Drivers are eager to add an inside passing lane to their options in the homestretch. It allows at least one additional horse, presumably ‘locked in’ behind the leaders, a chance to join the mad dash to the finish.

Harness fans should mark their calendars for Saturday (Oct. 2), when Hollywood Dayton will present a trio of $175,000 races — the Dayton Pacing Derby, the Dayton Distaff Derby and the Dayton Trotting Derby. The nomination lists for these events is a virtual who’s who of currently active veteran harness stalwarts. A number of Hall of Fame and Grand Circuit drivers are expected in town to steer many of the sport’s most recognized equine stars.
