Middlebury, IN — A raffle benefiting Amy Miller, daughter of prominent Indiana breeder Duane Miller, will take place Saturday (Oct. 29) during the Hoosier Classic Yearling Sale in Indianapolis, Ind.
The proceeds will help defray the medical costs of Miller who was diagnosed with leukemia this past summer and is scheduled to undergo a bone marrow transplant later this year.
According to Hoosier Classic Sale Company manager Steve Cross, “We have an opportunity to come alongside a family who is facing a daunting task and help out. We’re confident the harness horse community will step up and do their part. Aside from the emotional toll this has taken on the family, they are also looking at staggering medical bills and we want to help. Thanks to Finn Tack and Midwest Harness Supply for making this possible.”
The Duane Miller family, known for their breeding operation Legacy Lane Farm, has bred and raised champions including Glasspack p,4,1:49.4 ($998,820), Our Dragon King p,4,1:49.1 ($515,446), Doubletrouble p,1:50 ($701,883), and Can’t Touch This p,3,1:51s ($329,134) and has played an integral part in the rising popularity of the Indiana program.
A FinnTack T6 jog cart will be raffled as well as a complete race harness. Raffle tickets will be sold Thursday through Saturday at the auction site. The drawing is to take place at 12 noon on Saturday.
The 2016 Hoosier Classic Select Yearling Sale will be held Friday (Oct. 28) and Saturday (Oct. 29) in the West Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, Indianapolis Ind.
