Shelbyville, IN — The top Indiana-sired trotters and pacers will compete Saturday (September 10) for more than $2 million in purses as part of Indiana Downs’ Super Night program. The 14-race card consists of 10 lucrative Indiana Sires Stakes finals and four consolation events. First post is slated for 6:55 p.m. (EDT).
The $210,000 Indiana Sires Stakes final for freshman filly trotters kicks off the program. Cincinnati Star, a winner in each of three preliminary rounds, leads a group of 10 2-year-olds set to battle. Trained by Steve Carter, The Cincinnati Kid-Eastern Star Two filly starts from post five. Trace Tetrick, who guided Cincinnati Star to her three ISS scores, will be in the bike. Bar Sue, a two-time winner in stakes action, has drawn the second tier.
Trottin Tiger, a runaway winner in two Indiana Sires Stakes preliminary legs, will be the favorite to capture the $210,000 final for 2-year-old colt trotters. Trained by Mark Gillenwater, the Mossy Oak-Capryz Kelvin gelding has won his last two starts by a combined 21 lengths, taking his 1:58 mark the last time out. Slotted in post three in the evening’s fourth race, Trottin Tiger will be driven by Sam Widger.
Radar Contact will look to complete a sweep of both Indiana Sires Stakes finals in the night’s seventh race. The Dontgetinmyway-Topville Cyberwave 3-year-old started the season with nine straight victories, including a triumph in the $200,000 final for sophomore filly pacers at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino. Trained by Charles Stillings, who owns the filly with Dean Ehrgott, Radar Contact will start from post two in the $210,000 final with Dan Shetler at the controls.
Insatiable Desire, perfect in three ISS starts this season, attempts to complete the sweep in the $210,000 final for 2-year-old filly pacers. The Pro Bono Best-Silver Romance lass will start from the second tier in the 10-horse field, driven by Kayne Kauffman. Kerosene, an I Scoot Hanover-Color Me K filly that has won two of three Indiana Sires Stakes starts, lines up in post four while Bonos Lassie (Pro Bono Best-Brad’s Little Sis), also perfect in three stakes starts, has drawn post eight.
Next Flight In puts his perfect record on the line in the $210,000 Indiana Sires Stakes final for freshman colt/gelding pacers. The Erv Miller-trained son of Panspacificflight-Society Brat has drawn post position two in the night’s ninth race. Peter Wrenn will drive the seven-time winner, owned by Mystical Marker Farms, Mary Jane Anderson and Jack and Peggy Hood. Fritz Bow (Panspacificflight-Ronnae Bow), four-for-four to start his career, will line up fourth, while Fox Stake champion Fridaynightflight (Panspacificflight-Ramblin Rosie) has the five hole.
Sophomore pacer Flight Elal (Panspacificflight-Lady With A Tan) will try to sweep both ISS finals for sophomore colt pacers Saturday night, drawing post five in the $210,000 contest. Trained by Jim Dailey for owners Pacey Mindlin and Kenneth Cohen, the sophomore has missed the board in his last two starts. GD Airliner (Panspacificflight-Mackenzie Beth), a winner in three of his last four starts, including two miles under 1:52, leads the challengers. Erv Miller trains the gelding to be driven by Tyler Smith.
- Next Flight In continues to soar (Thursday, September 08, 2011)
It seems he is just one of those horses that garnered high expectations right from the beginning and with a perfect record from his first seven starts, the 2-year-old pacing gelding Next Flight In certainly has accomplished all his connections had hoped.
