Lexington, KY — Woodbine Entertainment Group’s leading driver, Jody Jamieson, hit the 6,000-win milestone at The Red Mile in Lexington, Kentucky on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 2).
Jamieson reached the impressive plateau when he guided Friendly Amigo to victory in the $83,700 Allerage Farms Open Trot for fillies and mares for trainer Blair Burgess and owners Karin Burgess and Bob Burgess.
The Moffat resident currently sits atop WEG’s 2011 standings in both wins and earnings with 275 trips to the winner’s circle and more than C$6.6 million in purses. Jamieson, whose career includes more than 33,000 starts, is a two-time O’Brien Award winner as Canada’s driver of the year.
“I haven’t been having any luck this week,” Jamieson said following the win. “My last win was on Tuesday at Mohawk, so it’s been a while. It’s a great feeling to get this win, especially with Blair’s horse. He’s put me down on his horses all week, so it’s a nice feeling.”
The 34-year-old captured his second World Driving Championship in August when he stood on top of the podium at Yonkers Raceway proudly in his Canadian colors.
Also this year, Jamieson teamed up with his father, Carl, to capture the C$1.5 million Pepsi North America Cup with Up The Credit.
Jamieson, a native of Truro, Nova Scotia, has career earnings of more than C$84 million.
