Joint venture for Western Fair and Forest City Sale

from Forest City Standardbred Sales

London, ON — Forest City Standardbred Sales and Western Fair Association have entered into a long term partnership agreement to conduct a total of four Standardbred horse sales each year at the London, Ontario facility known as the Agriplex.

Forest City is acknowledged as the leading yearling sale in Canada and will expand this year to conduct a Selected Yearling Sale on Sunday, October 19, followed by an auction for preferred yearlings the next week on October 26. As in previous years, the events will be conducted at the Agriplex which Forest City’s President and Sale Manager Brian Webster notes is a first class facility for holding horse sales.

“The Western Fair Agriplex is a great facility and Hugh Mitchell and Ian Fleming (Western Fair’s Chief Operating Officer and Racing and Gaming Manager, respectively) are widely respected. We like doing business with Western Fair and view this as a tremendous opportunity to expand and become a full service sales organization,” noted Webster.

In addition to the two yearling sales, Forest City and Western Fair have announced that they will be holding two mixed sales, one in the spring and the other in the fall, with the dates to be announced.

“We have had a great association with the Forest City Yearling Sale for a good many years, and with the recent decision of Standardbred Canada to move their sales from our facilities this initiative seemed to be a natural extension of our relationship. It is also consistent with our mandate as an agricultural society and an organization committed to live horse racing,” said Mitchell.
