Joseph B. “Jack” Auger Jr., 78, dies

Columbus, OH — Joseph B. “Jack” Auger Jr., 78, of Claymont, Del., passed away on July 18.

Mr. Auger, who was born to Joseph Sr. and Ruth (Harrington) Auger, graduated from Bishop Bradley High School in Manchester, N.H., and was a longtime resident of Manchester and Hampton, N.H., before moving to Claymont, Del.

Mr. Auger had a lifelong love of horses and harness racing and was a longtime member of the USTA. He served as the race secretary at Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack from 2011 until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister, Mary Auger. He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Auger-Campbell (Paul), and her mother, Jaqueline Auger; stepchildren, Ken Gorski, Amy Waterhouse and Philip Gorski; along with each of their families, and many dear friends.

At his request, no services will be held. His memory can best be honored by watching a horse race, raising a glass with good friends, or playing a round of golf.
