Krivelin wins AHDC race at Pocono

Wilkes-Barre, PA — Under threatening skies the AHDC Trotting Club went postward Sunday (Aug. 1) at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono and Robert Krivelin guiding Muay Hanover stole the show in a time of 1:57.2.

The big break in the race, no pun intended, came when the 1-5 favorite Stonebridge Gamble with reinsman Steve Oldford made a costly miscue behind the gate ending his chances for an AHDC victory.

Seizing on that opportunity, Krivelin, gunning for his first win of the 2021 campaign, sent Muay Hanover to the lead parking Life Well Lived and Joe Lee to the quarter in :29. Lee was able to finally wrestle his way into the two hole but Krivelin was already rating his horse to an easy half in :59.1.

Marion Gondolier and Dave Glasser, sensing the slowed pace, tried to make a bold first over move but Muay Hanover, after the breather, had plenty of gas in the tank. He rebuffed the challenge of the second choice and finished the mile strong almost uncontested. Life Well Lived held on for second and Fashion Possessed with Tony Beltrami came on to secure the show money.

In what was by far the best bet race of the afternoon card, Muay Hanover scored his second victory of the season, returning a nice win price of $26.80. And as previously mentioned, it was Krivelin’s first trip to the winner’s circle in 2021.

The AHDC has a few more weeks of racing left at Pocono with the final for the series scheduled on Aug. 29.
