Chester, PA — In a thrilling finish, Dan Patch Award winner Broadway Donna and Jimmy Takter trainee Lagerfeld hit the line together in a dead heat in a Great Northeast Series event for Open Trotters at Harrah’s Philadelphia Sunday afternoon (June 10).
In a race that included many lead changes, Broadway Donna (Tyler Buter) overcame post eigth to clear Lagerfeld (Josert Fonseca) with five-eighths remaining. They raced one-two until the top of the stretch, when Lagerfeld took aim from the pocket, forcing the dead heat in 1:53.2.
The fractions were :28, :56.2, and 1:25 over a track labeled good. Muscle Diamond (Eric Goodell) finished third.
For Lagerfeld, it was his 10th career win in 45 starts. Driver Josert Fonseca is now three-for-three in pari-mutuel drives in his young career.
Lagerfield is owned by Christina Takter, Herb Liverman and Jim and John Fielding.
For Broadway Donna, it was her 19th career tally in start 35. She is owned by Fashion Farms LLC and trained by Jim Campbell.
