Grove City, OH — Herb LeVan of Lewistown, Ohio, will be honored at the 2018 Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association annual awards banquet on Saturday (Jan. 13) at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Columbus-Worthington with an OHHA Special Award for his compassion and dedication to the harness racing industry.

Herb LeVan will be honored at the 2018 Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association annual awards banquet.
LeVan has been training and racing horses for more than 40 years. His dedication for his years of service are to be commended. Not only has LeVan been a dedicated second generation horseman following in his father’s footsteps, but his excitement for the sport has carried down into the next two generations of his family with his son and grandsons being involved in the sport. Herb’s wife Rosemary also owns horses and has been actively involved in the stable. Harness racing is a family affair for the LeVan family.
The LeVan stable has always averaged 10 to 12 horses. There is little outside help in the stable as most of the work has been accomplished by LeVan family members working together to run the stable. LeVan’s son Louis shared that their stable is unique in that a very high percentage of horses trained have always made it to the races. Most of their horses have also been economical to the stable in that they generally purchase horses at a lower price and they have had a long and prosperous racing career. This is quite an accomplishment that the LeVans are proud of.
The OHHA thanks Herb LeVan for his years of service and his dedication to the sport of harness racing.
