Lincoln’s Girl N wins Rosecroft feature

Ft. Washington, MD — The star of the Wednesday night (March 24) card at Rosecroft no doubt was Danny Herbst and his track crew. With over 15 hours of straight rain, the track ended up labeled ‘good’ with a minus 1 variant.

In the featured event of the night, it proved to be a turtle and hare type event, and in this case, the hare won by a whisker as Lincoln’s Girl N ($4.80) held off a charging Jive Dancing A to take the $11,000 event for Open Mares.

Russell Foster drove the winner for Basil Sapienza and left from post eight in :27 and rolled through fractions of :56.3, 1:25 and 1:54.1. Jive Dancing A, handicapped with post nine, closed from eighth to just miss, while Bet You Im Rockin, who provided cover for the runner-up, held on for third.

It was the second win in three starts at Rosecroft for the 6-year old mare by Sir Lincoln.

Foster also won with Rose Run Vincent ($10) for William Cantrell and trainer John Cabot.

Sean Bier took top honors on the night winning with Shezallapples A ($2.60) for Rodney Long and trainer Chuck Crissman Jr., Spinwithme ($15.60) for Carolin Oglesby and trainer Clyde Oglesby Jr., and Cardiff ($8.20) for Carolyn Boyce and trainer Brian Malone.

Drivers Luke Hanners and Jared Moyer each won a pair, while trainer John Wagner had a pair of winners.
