The 6-year-old Italian mare Lisa America, owned by Hall of Famer Lou Guida, won the Gala Internationale del Trotto on Monday (Dec. 26) at the Tordivalle track in Rome.
Driven by top Belgium driver Dominik Locqueneux, Lisa America took command after the first quarter and even though she became comfortable down the stretch she held on to win by a length, followed by a fast finishing Maestrale Spin, driven by M. Minopoli, Jr., and Le Cannibale, driven by Jean Michel Bazire.
The victory was worth $76,500 and was the first for Lisa America since March 27. She will now be aimed for the Prix d’Amerique.
