Columbus, OH — Mario Nodari, 85, of Fairfield, N.J., died Aug. 10, 2016.
Born in Montecchio, Maggiore, Italy, Mr. Nodari lived in Montville for many years before moving to Fairfield 19 years ago.
Mr. Nodari was a blacksmith farrier in the New Jersey area for many years. As a young boy, he learned the art of horse shoeing from his father, Antonio, in his home town Montecchio, Maggiore, Italy. A family tradition passed down through generations along with the artistry of horse shoeing there was a distinct pride that Mr. Nodari brought to his work and was known to say “I love what I’m doing and I know that I’m good at it, as were my father and grandfather.”
He is survived by his loving daughters, Elizabeth Waddell, Laura (James) Paccagnini and Gina Nodari-Waldron; grandchildren, Steven, Katherine, Denise, Daniel, David, Rene, Joseph and Michael; and great-granddaughter, Amelia. Mr. Nodari was preceded in death by his wife, Imelda (nee Prospero); and two brothers in Italy.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family at Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Ave., Caldwell, on Friday (Aug. 12) from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Mass will be offered at Notre Dame Church, North Caldwell, on Saturday (Aug. 13) at 10 a.m., followed by the interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair.
