Martha Jean Gale, 80, dies

Columbus, OH — Martha Jean Gale, 80, of North Hanover, N.J., died May 5, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born in Nyack, N.Y., to the late Herbert and Martha Potter Smith, she grew up on the family dairy farm.

She earned her business and equitation degree from Southern Seminary in Virginia and after she married her husband Earle in 1964, they moved to North Hanover, N.J. They purchased their horse farm, Gales Way Farm, in 1968 which they operated together for 53 years.

Mrs. Gale was dedicated to her Quarter Horses and Standardbred racehorses and spent her time horse training, giving lessons and running the farm. She loved flowers, her dogs, and above all her family.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Earle A. Gale; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy (Wade) Hale; and her son and daughter-in-law, Josh (Erin). She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret “Peggy” Giddings.

A viewing will be held Monday (May 10) from 9-11 a.m. with a funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown. Interment will follow in the Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery.
