Columbus, OH — Mary Lou Wand, 72, of Shullsburg, Wis., died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sept. 12, 2016, at Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County in Darlington.
She was born March 1, 1944, in Shullsburg, the daughter of Leroy and Alice (Fisher) Solberg. She graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1962. She married the love of her life, Robert J. Wand, of Gratiot on Aug. 12, 1971 in Monticello, Iowa.
Mrs. Wand was a lifelong resident of Shullsburg. She began her career at Don Q Inn in Dodgeville and enjoyed many years working and managing at the Wheel In Restaurant and Lounge and Shullsburg Veterinary Service.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; children, Stacy, Lance (Brooke), Sarah (Steve) Vosberg, Rachel (Kurt) Haney and USTA Director Gabe (Marcus); grandchildren, Noah, Alex, Sydnee, Kellen, Sawyer Vosberg, Cooper Vosberg and Gracie Lou Haney; brothers, Steve Solberg, Larry (Pam) Solberg, Bruce (Cindy) Solberg, Nick (Julie) Solberg and Tim (Jean) Solberg; and many nieces and nephews who were all very special to her. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters-in-law, Maryon, Millie Solberg and Gloria; and two brothers-in-law, George and Andy Waelti.
Mrs. Wand was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Shullsburg. She would often say, “My greatest accomplishments in life are my five awesome children who gave me the best grandchildren.”
Her greatest pleasures came while attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and other extracurricular activities and spending time with her grandchildren and family, creating memories that will last a lifetime, especially their trips to South Dakota. She Lou cherished the time she spent with friends traveling to Dubuque. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held Friday (Sept. 16) at 11 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, 344 N. Judgement Street, Shullsburg, with Monsignor Larry Bakke of St. Victor’s Catholic Church in Monroe officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday (Sept. 15) from 4-8 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home, 235 N. Judgement Street, Shullsburg.
