Columbus, OH — Meadows horsemen Dan Altmeyer and Chris Shaw will be honored by the Washington-Greene Co. Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame recently announced its Class of 2025 inductees, special honorees, Courage Awards, Above and Beyond award recipient, and Hall of Fame Moment.
Altmeyer was named a special honoree while Shaw will receive the James C. “Jimmy” Montecalvo and Luke Blanock Memorial Courage Award.
Dan Altmeyer notched career training win 1,000 when Pit Boss Hanover captured a June 20, 2024, race at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows. Altmeyer’s family is deeply involved in the business with him and is an integral part of his success.
On May 16, 2024, Chris Shaw catch-drove Battin Athousand to a win for owner/trainer Roger Hammer in a conditioned trot. It was the first win for Shaw since Sept. 28, 2021. On that day, he won the first race of the afternoon before being involved in a racing accident less than an hour later that left him injured and unable to drive for more than two years. At the time of the accident Shaw was third at The Meadows in total number of drives for the 2021 season.
Altmeyer and Shaw will be honored at the 39th induction banquet which will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday (June 8) at the Hilton Garden Inn, Southpointe.
