REGULAR SCHEDULE THIS WEEK
Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will race Wednesday and Thursday this week at 12:45 p.m. (EDT), followed by a Friday evening card at 5:10 p.m. Saturday’s action returns to its regular 12:45 p.m. post this week.
100+ FRESHMEN SET TO QUALIFY
After several dozen 2-year-olds made their first qualifying appearances last week, 101 more will see action on Tuesday morning (June 10) in qualifying races. In all, 19 qualifying races will be held, with races 1-16 exclusively for freshmen trotters and pacers. Qualifying races are held at The Meadows every Tuesday morning, with post time for the summer now moved to 10:30 a.m. (EDT). The qualifiers are being offered live for the summer on Race Track Network’s online platform and are also shown live on the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association’s Facebook page and archived at www.youtube.com/themsoa.
2YOS MAKE PARIMUTUEL DEBUT
Wednesday’s second race will be the first parimutuel event of the season for 2-year-olds. Eight filly trotters have been entered in an $8,600 maiden trot. The field is split, with four homebreds and four that were purchased at auction last fall. The top-priced youngster in the field is Mis Amigas, a $32,000 yearling purchase last fall by the Dan Altmeyer Stable. She is a daughter of Father Patrick. The lone filly with a mark in the race is Another Chance, an Enterprise filly from the Norm Parker Stable, a winner of a qualifying race in 2:03.2 last week. In all, seven sires are represented. Father Patrick (two), Enterprise, Mission Accepted, Greenshoe, Fordham Road, Captain Corey and Volstead.
