Here is this week’s Meadows Monday Memo.
TWO-DAY SCHEDULE THIS WEEK
Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will race Wednesday and Thursday this week at 12:45 p.m. (EDT), in an abbreviated week. A pair of concerts will be held on the racetrack this Friday and Saturday, June 27-28.
WILD WILD WINNER
Saturday’s second race was a special one for the Norm Parker Stable. When 2-year-old Western Raptor stepped onto the track, he became the first horse sired by Parker’s pacer Wild Wild Western to make it to the races. Wild Wild Western continued to race in the Open level while working part-time in the breeding shed in recent seasons. Western Raptor wasted no time giving his sire his first winner, capturing a maiden pace in 1:54.3. Andrew Altobelli owns the homebred, out of the mare Kitty Kitty Hawk (Somebeachsomewhere), another pacer that raced for Parker.
50 FRESHMEN TO QUALIFY TUESDAY
Ten qualifying races will take place Tuesday (June 24), with the first seven for 2-year-olds. Qualifiers are held at The Meadows every Tuesday morning, with post time at 10:30 a.m. The races are being offered live for the summer on Race Track Network’s online platform, and are also shown live on the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association’s Facebook page, and archived at www.youtube.com/themsoa.
HOLIDAY RACING NEXT WEEK
The Meadows will race its regular summer schedule during the July 4 week, which means live racing at 5:10 p.m. on Friday, July 4.
ADIOS ONE MONTH AWAY
The Grade 1 Delvin Miller Adios Pace for the Orchids is just a month away, with Adios Day set for Saturday, July 26. Elimination races for the top stake will take place one week prior, on Saturday, July 19. Owners of 3-year-old pacers are reminded that updated Adios conditions now allow for supplemental Adios entries. Contact The Meadows’ race office for additional information.
