SERIES ENTRY DEADLINES APPROACHING
Deadlines are approaching quickly for the first four series events of the season at The Meadows. The Wilbur Zendt Memorial Pacing Series, the Donna Dunn Memorial Pacing Series, the Dale McConnell Memorial Trotting Series and the Mary Wohlmuth Memorial Trotting Series each have a deadline of Feb. 15 for nominations. The nomination fee is $200 per horse, and eligibility is limited to 3- and 4-year-olds that are PA sired or PA owned, and are non-winners of two pari-mutuel races or $25,000 lifetime as of Jan. 1, 2025. THURSDAY FEATURE
The Open Trot has been carded as the feature race on Thursday, with a field of seven going for a purse of $18,000. Smoking Jet, trained by Ron Burke, and Windsong Patriot, out of the Melanie O’Donnell stable, each enter the event on a two-race win streak. Smoking Jet is now 2-for-3 this season, while Windsong Patriot is making his 2025 debut, having last raced on Dec. 15.
BIG WEEK FOR WRENN
After winning 14 races in three days, Ronnie Wrenn Jr. has jumped to the top of the list among Meadows winning drivers. He now has 43 on the season, with an impressive .465 Universal Driving Rating. His 29.1 winning percentage and $335,000-plus in purse earnings also top those lists.
THREE DAYS OF RACING
Hollywood Casino at The Meadows continues its usual winter schedule of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday racing this week, post time 12:45 p.m. each day. In cooperation with the USTA’s Strategic Wagering Program and the Meadows Standardbred Owners Association, The Meadows will offer a $5,000 guarantee on the Late Pick-4 pool each day.
