Melissa Arbia wins GSY event at The Meadowlands

East Rutherford, NJ — When you look at a race on paper that shows a ton of speed and several leavers and nobody does, that is exactly what happened tonight in the first race on the card.

What was shaping up to be a speed duel turned out to be a snooze fest as Melissa Arbia, driving Cheyenne Ryan Lee, left from her rail position and never looked back.

After a fast :27.1 first quarter, she settled her pacer down to a sensible second and third quarter en route to a three-length victory.  Scirocco Mistysaid (Mark Silva), rode the rail and finished second while longshot May I Cruise West (Mark Schullstrom), rounded out a nice trifecta. Arbia paid a generous $17.20 for all of her $2 win backers.

The race was timed in 1:52.3.

The 4-year-old gelding is owned by Antoinette Bencivenne of PA and is trained by Alexandra Goldin.

Next week the amateurs take center stage on Friday night and the scheduled post time for the first is 7:15 p.m.
