Miami Valley set to kick off 10th season

Lebanon, OH — As the calendar is rapidly approaching a flip to 2023, so is the venue for live racing in southwest Ohio. On the heels of a successful 2022 season at Hollywood Dayton Raceway, which ends this Friday (Dec. 30), live action moves to Miami Valley Raceway on Monday (Jan. 2).

The draw for the initial card, scheduled for Monday, will take place Wednesday (Dec. 28). Condition sheets for the first week of the meet are online, and horsepeople can make online entries until 1 p.m., when the box closes for Opening Day. For those who don’t utilize the USTA’s convenient Online Entry feature, phone lines will be open from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at 513.934.7792.

Purses are expected to approach $17 million during the 87-day meet, an average of approximately $191,000 per program.

Miami Valley will present live racing five days a week on a regular basis with a 4 p.m. post time for each card. Starting Jan. 2, live cards will be showcased weekly on Sunday through Thursday, with Friday and Saturday slated as dark days.

Race secretary Gregg Keidel reminds horsemen that nomination payments for the first five “Claim To Fame” late-closing series are due in his office by Tuesday, (Jan. 3). Entry blanks for all the various late closers at MVG can be found on the Miami Valley Gaming website.
