Mid-Atlantic Harness Racing Career Day Oct. 3 at Harrington Raceway

Harrington, DE — The United States Trotting Association in conjunction with Harrington Raceway will be hosting a Mid-Atlantic Harness Racing Career Day at 1 p.m. at Harrington Raceway on Oct. 3.

An information session outlining a path to many of harness racing’s career opportunities will be presented by USTA COO T.C. Lane, with information on how to obtain requisite racing licenses where required for various occupations such as charter, program director, paddock judge, race office personnel, starter, etc. There will also be information on non-licensed positions, such as a teller, track maintenance, etc.

Realizing that qualified personnel is in short supply, the USTA is supporting the initiative by waiving first year license fees to members who attend this seminar. A cash incentive for attendees who obtain subsequent new accreditation is being offered by the Delaware Valley Chapter of USHWA and details will be announced at the event.

Other speakers include Delaware Standardbred Owners Association Executive Director Sal Dimario, who has over 40 years’ experience in the business, and industry veteran Scott Egger, who has worked at numerous racetracks in various roles and is currently an associate judge at Harrah’s Philadelphia.

Interested participants are required to register (free to attend) by Sept. 29 by emailing hri@harringtonraceway.com with their name and phone number.
