Delaware, OH — Miss Tezsla won Wednesday’s (Sept. 21) $86,200 Buckette for 3-year-old female trotters, wearing down leader Naughty III over the final quarter-mile to post a 1-3/4 length victory in 1:55.1 at the Delaware County Fairgrounds.
Naughty III took the lead from post one at the start and set fractions of :28.3, :58.3, and 1:26.4. By the time the filly reached three-quarters, Miss Tezsla was alongside after a sustained first-over march. The two matched strides around the final turn before Miss Tezsla, the 3-5 favorite, drew clear.
Ultimate Shopper finished third and Synonymous Hanover was fourth in the 10-horse field.
Brett Miller drove Miss Tezsla, the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes championship runner-up, for trainer Jimmy Takter and owner Miss Tezsla Stable.
“She raced a great race,” Takter said. “She’s the kind of horse that just keeps on getting better. She’s very tough. I trained her mother and she was the same; she just kept getting better and better and made a lot of money.
“(Brett) just sat outside and knew he had everything under control.”
Miss Tezsla is a daughter of stallion Andover Hall out of the O’Brien Award-winning mare Filly At Bigs. She was purchased for $45,000 under the name Anagram at the 2014 Lexington Selected Sale.
She has won four of 12 races this year and earned $217,356. In her last five starts, she has posted three wins and two seconds.
“This is a very nice filly,” added Takter. “She always has been.
“For the rest of the year she will go to Lexington in the Bluegrass and all those races. She is staked to everything.”
