Campbellville, ON — The RCMP Musical Ride is coming to Mohawk Racetrack for performances on Tuesday (Aug. 1) and Wednesday (Aug. 2).
A spectacle known around the world, the RCMP Musical Ride is performed by a full troop of 32 riders and their horses. The performance consists of intricate figures and drills choreographed to music. The first official musical ride was held in 1887.
The RCMP Musical Ride will be making a stop at Mohawk as part of ongoing Canada 150 celebrations. The performances at Mohawk are scheduled for Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon. The Tuesday evening performance will take place during live racing.
A special post time of 6 p.m. has been announced for Tuesday’s card and the RCMP Musical Ride performance will take place after the fifth race at approximately 8 p.m. The opening five races are scheduled to take place between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with the remaining races on the card set to resume at 9 p.m. Doors open for Tuesday’s live racing and Musical Ride performance at 4 p.m.
Wednesday afternoon’s performance is scheduled for 2 p.m. with doors opening at 12 noon. Although there is no live racing on Wednesday, there will be plenty of entertainment on-site to accompany the Musical Ride. Kid’s entertainment will include bouncy castles, pony rides, dog agility show, face paintings, glitter tattoos, balloon art and a Touch-A-Truck area. All these activities are included with admission.
Tickets for the RCMP Musical Ride at Mohawk are C$10 in advance and C$15 at the door. Kids under the age of 12 are free.
