Columbus, OH — Monte George Lake, 93, died peacefully in his sleep on Dec. 10, 2022.

Mr. Lake was a lifelong Michigan horseman. He raced for 50 years from Michigan to California to Florida. He raced such horses as Shiaway Evelyn, Red Fireball and Michigan state champion Wil Lar’s Bill.

He is survived by his brothers, Rick and Larry; sister, Sharron Headworth; and countless nieces and nephews to whom he was a very special uncle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Luella (Peg); parents, Angus and Leona; brother, Earl; and sisters, Ramona, Roberta Bodell, Sandra Hayden, and Sonia Stanton.
