Monticello, NY — For years the Monticello Harness Horsemen’s Association worked out of an office in the Race Secretary building which is provided by Monticello Raceway. And they still do for five days a week from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. But now horsemen have another option.
On the cold and blustery day of January 3, members of the MHHA gathered for the specific purpose of a ribbon cutting ceremony at their new satellite office which opened that day at noon in the racing paddock.
Leading the procession was Alan Schwartz, the president of MHHA. He was joined by his Horsemen’s Rep, Terry Finch, who will man the satellite office during race days, and other horsemen, along with racing secretary Eric Warner and track publicist John Manzi.
“This is a great day for us and now we’ll have an office available to the entire membership all day long during the race days,” Schwartz said. “We owe a debt of gratitude to (board member) Mario Marcellino who graciously donated his time and efforts in order to construct the office. And we thank Monticello Raceway for permitting us to build this office from a part of the former outdoor race paddock.”
