Chester, PA — Moonshiner Hanover, a 4-year-old son of Andover Hall who won more than $420,000 at two and three, looks like he may soon be ready for big-league competition after a second straight 1:53.4 victory in the $17,000 trotting feature at Harrah’s Philadelphia Thursday afternoon (May 10).
David Miller moved Moonshiner Hanover to the lead by the :28 quarter and never looked back from there, posting middle splits of :57.1 and 1:24.4 en route to a 4-3/4 length runaway victory. Trainer Christopher Beaver also owns a share of the highly–promising trotter with Synerco Ventures Inc. and Bill Manes.
Top event for the “seasoned” trotting set was a $14,500 contest that saw another son of Andover Hall, the gelding Ataboy Hanover, get in under the non-winners of seven races also eligible condition and then visit Victory Lane for the third straight time after stopping the timer in a new personal best of 1:54.1.
Also taking the front end after the quarter, Ataboy Hanover had enough late to withstand a late burst from third-in Wheelsandthelegman by a neck for driver Eric Carlson and trainer Mark Harder, the latter sharing ownership with Rick Phillips and Deena Rachel Frost.
