Morairtime wires Dover trotters

Dover, DE — Morairtime called every shot on her way to a mild 9-2 upset in Tuesday’s (Feb. 16) $20,000 Open Handicap Trot at Dover Downs.

Jack Parker Jr. blasted Morairtime to the top from post five, and she traveled uncontested through fractions of :28.4, :57.1 and 1:25.1. Northern Express slid off the rail from pocket position in the stretch, but he could not gain on the leader. Morairtime won by a measured length in 1:53.4. Northern Express (Russell Foster) saw his two-race win streak end with a second-place finish; Need Luck N (Andy McCarthy) finished with late energy to pick up third.

Tim Tetrick, who notched his 12,000th career driving win aboard Manone in the third race, led all drivers with five wins on the 12-race card.

Racing at Dover resumes on Wednesday (Feb. 17) with post time at 4:30 p.m. On Thursday (Feb. 18), there will be a $5,000 guaranteed pool in the Pick-5, which offers a 50-cent minimum bet and a 15 percent takeout.
