New membership options for Billings Series

by John Manzi

MONTICELLO, NY – This seasons C.K.G. Billings schedule is arguably the best ever in all of the 26 years that the “Grand Circuit of Amateur Racing” has been in existence.

For the first time there are 13 venues in Canada which will host13 Billings competitions and with four Delvin Miller Memorial Cup finales at seasons end on December 1 at the Meadowlands, this year the series promises to be one that could be enjoyed by a multitude of different participants.

And in an effort to bolster participation in the seven-month series, Billings President Peter Gerry recently announced yet another option for those who might want to participate on an abbreviated schedule.

“There may be some amateurs who can’t travel extensively but would still like to participate in more localized events so we have adopted a “fairs only” option where members who subscribe to this will be permitted to participate only in fair legs and in non-pari-mutuel racetrack- hosted legs like those at Goshen Historic Track, for instance.”

According to Gerry a fee of $200 will allow drivers to participate in the “fair only” option and there will be no penalty fee applied for late entry to this category.

“This membership option will permit participation at 16 of our host venues,” Gerry added. “Also, for first time members who wish to join the Billings and compete in the 2007 series we are waiving any late payment penalties. And for former members who wish to rejoin the late penalty is reduced to $50.”

Those interested in becoming part of the Billings family can still do so by sending their respective payments to: Delvin Miller Amateur Drivers Association, Box 590, 240 Main St., Goshen NY 10924.
