NYSS sophomore trotting fillies at Monticello on Monday

Monticello, NY — The New York Sire Stakes 3-year-old trotting fillies visit Monticello Raceway on Monday (Aug. 15). They will race in two divisions, each worth $57,000. Both races are five-horse contests.

Race three is the first division and Perfect Vixen has been installed the morning line favorite and will score from the rail with her usual pilot, John Stark Jr. She sports an impressive resume. In 14 starts, she has had nine trips to the winner’s circle and $64,365 in purses. She moves up in class this week.

Gertrude (post four) has won two consecutive races in the Excelsior A class. She’ll be driven by Tyler Miller.

In the second division, Valentine Blu (post five) raced against the best last season, where she banked $336,703. She won a NYSS earlier this year at Yonkers Raceway in 1:55.4. The daughter of Chapter Seven will be driven by Joe Bongiorno for trainer Tony Alagna and she is owned by Crawford Farms Racing.

Gettinmystepsin (post four) has been a model of consistency this season, only missing a check in one start. She won two legs of the Weiss Trotting Series at Pocono. Julie Miller trains and Tyler Miller will drive.
