Obituary for David Joseph Brower Jr.

Columbus, OH — David Joseph Brower Jr., 53, of Passaic, N.J., died unexpectedly on Oct. 7, 2022, in Lexington, Ky.

Mr. Brower was born and raised in Passaic.

Since a very young age, he was fascinated with horse racing which led him to his amazing career as an oddsmaker/TV host/handicapper and broadcaster for the Meadowlands Racetrack. He was a graduate of St. John’s University with a degree in journalism. He truly devoted his life to the job he loved.

In 2019, he was awarded the Phil Pines Award which recognized his decades of outstanding media coverage in the sport of harness racing and exemplified the spirit of his hard work and commitment to his craft.

He was preceded in death by his father, David Sr., in 1993 and is survived by his loving mother, Rose; sister, Laura; nephews, Devon and Mason; and a host of loving family and friends.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Nov. 12 at the Meadowlands Racetrack.
