Ohio Standardbreds & Friends to host World Standardbred Horse Show

by Debbie Schiff

The 2014 World Standardbred Horse Show will be held in Sunbury, Ohio at Eden Park Equestrian Complex October 10-12, 2014.

The event will begin on Friday afternoon at 4 P.M. with a FREE clinic with Judge/Clinician Jennifer Moshier on Showmanship. Several new classes have been added this year including Musical Freestyle which will be held on Friday at 6 P.M. Trail and Contesting Classes will take place on Friday evening starting at 7 P.M. Saturday will feature all of the English Classes/Divisions including jumping and Sunday will feature Dressage, In-hand Classes, Gaited, Western and Driving Classes/Divisions. This year Dressage will include Classical, Western and Gaited Western. Because of the versatility of the Standardbred riders/handlers found themselves in panic mode trying to do tack changes and location changes to make sure they got to their classes last year. Dividing the show bill will allow everyone to show in whatever classes they want to without feeling rushed.

The opening and closing ceremonies will feature riders and horses from Cherokee Stable’s Drill Team, Gove City, Ohio. They did a great job last year and we are excited to see what they will be doing this year.

Judges are Kerrie Matesich for Dressage, Jennifer Moshier for English and Jumping, David Riedel for In-hand, Western and Driving. Duayne Stutszman will Judge our Gaited Divisions and be our announcer. Dean Moshier will be the Official Show Farrier.

What an exciting event to showcase the Standardbred! Ohio Standardbreds & Friends is also looking for class and division sponsors – by being a sponsor you get to be a real part of the excitement! Contact Debbie at dschiff@roadrunner.com or by calling 740-207-0852 for sponsorship information.
