Delaware, OH — Bender Sweden Inc. and Staffan Lind’s Celebrity Bombay came charging down the center of the track in the stretch to win the $121,750 Old Oaken Bucket for sophomore male trotters in a time of 1:55.2 on Thursday (Sept. 22) at the Delaware County Fair.
Brett Miller was in the bike for co-owner/trainer Staffan Lind as the Yankee Glide-Secret Harmony colt posted his third win of the season and increased his 2011 bankroll to $77,687.
Mythical Hall and David Miller cut the fractions in this race from post six, taking the field to the quarter in :27.3, the half in :56.3 and the three-quarters in 1:26.
Celebrity Bombay ($23.00) sat fourth for the first half-mile, pulled out with cover heading to the three-quarter pole, then was the fastest of all heading to the finish line. Mythical Hall held on for second, while Soulful Delight finished third.
“This was the first time I drove him since the Yonkers Trot (when he made a break at the three-quarter pole and did not finish the race),” said Brett Miller. “But this is a really nice colt and I’m just glad they gave me the chance to drive him again.”
