Bob Pandolfo offers his picks for the $50,000 Pick-4 at Meadowlands Racetrack on July 28, part of the USTA Strategic Wagering program. Meadowlands Pick-4, Races 6-9, Thursday, July 28, 2011 I hit the Pick-4 this past Saturday. It paid $514 for $2 but I had it for a buck on my $24 ticket. I’m now in the black, finally, with a profit of $177.40! Amazingly, I lost 22 in a row before hitting one, now I’ve hit three of the last six. First I hit one for $333.20, then I hit one for $49.60 but I had it for $4. Saturday night two of the winners were overlays which helped the payoff as Melvyn paid $10.40 and Super Eighty Eight paid $16.80. I had made Melvyn 8-5 on my line, and Super Eighty Eight 5-2, so these were generous odds indeed. Tonight’s sequence looks pretty tough and once again I’m sticking with a modestly priced ticket. $1 play: 2/3479/358/4 = $12 Analysis: Race 6: (2) JK Cracklin Rosie made two moves from post 10 and was second best behind the division leader American Jewel in a sharp debut two weeks ago. I’ll single her. Race 7: These ten claimers are tough and wide open races. I’ll going to use the four obvious horses here, (4) Adrenaline, (7) Must Be The Bunny, (3) Trophy Hunter, and (9) Military Stratcom; they all come off solid efforts. Race 8: (3) Maggys Art makes first start for a hot barn but I also used (5) Ivana Dance and (8) Beautiful In Blue, the three obvious horses. Race 9: (4) Casimir Camotion is 11 years old but clearly the best horse in the race off the drop. (9) Lies Lies Lies has been dull this year but shows an improved qualifier but I’m going to keep the ticket small and single the 11-year-old that has $1.68 million in earnings.
