Chester, PA — The Pennsylvania Harness Horseman’s Association (PHHA) donated $15,000 to the Adopt A Scholar Foundation.
Pennsylvania Harness Horseman’s Association President Earl Beal commented, “We wanted to get more involved and contribute to the local neighborhoods. Since the construction of Harrah’s Chester Casino and Racetrack back in 2006, we have been thrilled our association has been so well received in this community.”
The Adopt A Scholar Foundation was founded to identify young scholars from diverse social, economic and cultural backgrounds living in the Chester-Upland School District. The Foundation’s mission is to raise funds to send these young scholars to area private schools.
The Foundation was founded in 2005 by Doreen and Dale Petrovitch and has attracted support from the Greater Delaware County business community. Initial program supporters have included many businesses associated with the emerging gaming and racing industry in Chester.
The Foundation presented the check to The Walden School’s Director of Development and Marketing, Karen Breitmayer. The donation will benefit three students identified by the Foundation and now enrolled at The Walden School in Media, Pa., to continue their elementary and middle school education.
The Walden School is an independent co-ed day (Preschool through Grade 8). Accredited by the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools, Walden offers an academically challenging environment.
