Pompano Beach, FL — Pompano Park management has announced a 20 percent purse increase beginning with the racing program of Monday (March 12).
This follows on the heels of a recent 10 percent increase announced just days ago.
The increase reflects management’s appreciation of horsemen and their support of the racing at South Florida’s only pari-mutuel harness racing track.
Racing continues through May.
In other track news, post positions will be drawn Wednesday for Sunday’s $30,000 Fred Monteleone Memorial final, which is scheduled to be contested at 1-1/4 miles. The first leg was contested at five-eighths of a mile while the second leg was lengthened to the standard one mile distance.
Track record holder Panocchio, Hollywood Sign A, Rocky’s Z Tam and Dee’s Rocketman, all winners in their respective legs of the series, are expected to return for the final.
