Ponder The Odds highlights Freehold’s Saturday card

Freehold, NJ — Ponder The Odds dominated in the first leg of the New Jersey Sire Stakes-Standardbred Development Fund for 3-year-old filly pacers last Saturday at Freehold Raceway. She’ll seek to continue her hot streak this Saturday (Oct. 12), as she drew post one in the second leg of the series.

The Kathleen La Montagne-trained filly has won three races in a row and went the mile last week in an impressive 1:56.2. She went right to the lead in that race and never looked back for a 2-1/2 length win.

Many of her rivals from that race have returned, including Surreality. The Nicholas Devita-trained filly finished second at 55-1 odds and will seek to pull off the upset again from post position six.

That race is scheduled as race five, with an approximate post time of 1:50 p.m.

The card also features the second leg of the NJSS-SDF for colt and gelding pacers. Trainers Nick Surick and Tom Fanning send out four of the five horses in the race.

Surick trains Black Dan and Trente Deo, who were fifth and third, respectively, in the first leg of the series last week. Fanning conditions Cool Your Heels, who was seventh last week, and Just Plain Loco, who was fourth.

Michael Hall-trained Admiral Ballsy rounds out the field.

The race is scheduled as the third race, at approximately 1:10 p.m.

Post time for the first race on Saturday at Freehold is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. (EDT).
