Prairie Panther scores in Tioga feature

Nichols, NY – Prairie Panther (Wally Hennessey) charges late to capture the $13,000 Open Pace at Tioga Downs on Sunday (August 14).

JB Mauney (Mike Merton) went staright to the front. Natameri (Mike Simons) went first-over to takeover just before hitting the first quarter first in :27. JB Mauney popped the pocket and reclaimed the lead with a circuit to go. He led to the half in :56.0. Get Lit (Jim Taggert Jr.) came first -up to challenge as they headed to the final turn. JB Mauney had a short lead at three-quarters in 1:23.2.

As they made the turn for home Prairie Pather (Wally Hennessey) came flying three-wide down the lane and blew right on by to win easily in 1:51.4. Machiatto A (Jacob Cutting) made a late move to finish second Get Lit got third money.
Prairie Panther is an 8-year-old gelding by Royal Millennium. He is owned by Joel Warner and trainer Mike Deters. It was his 11th win this season. He now has 58 career wins.

Wally Hennessey drove three winners on the card. Braxten Boyd and Brandon Parker each had driving doubles. John Hallett and Mike Watson led all trainers with two wins a piece during the afternoon.

Tioga Downs returns to Live racing on Friday (August 19) starting at 6:15 p.m.
