Precision Blue Chip wins Rosecroft Open Handicap Pace

Fort Washington, MD — Russell Foster and Precision Blue Chip won the $12,000 Open Handicap Pace for a third straight start at Rosecroft on Sunday night (Feb. 21), setting a new lifetime mark in the process, 1:50.3. With his third straight win, one figured to get even money or 3-5 on the winner, right? Wrong. He was the third choice at 8-1.

With Slick Tony and Victor Kirby invading from Dover off two straight wins, including one in the Open Handicap, he was sent off at 4-5 and rightfully so based on recent performance. He sat sixth off the gate and followed Precision Blue Chip second over and just could not get to the leader who sprinted away in the stretch to set a new lifetime mark. After winning just five of his first 42 starts, Precision Blue Chip has won 13 of his last 30 for Courtney Brooks who owns and trains the 6-year-old son of Bettor’s Delight.

Luke Hanners, Pat Berry and Eric Davis had driving doubles on the 14-race Sunday night card.
