Dover, DE — Ten qualifying races on Wednesday (Oct. 26) morning at 10 a.m. set the stage for the opening of the six-month long 2011-2012 season at Dover Downs.
Eight of the 10 qualifying races are for pacers. Of the 75 horses, 21 are 3-year-olds and seven are 2-year-olds.
The first draw of the 43rd season is led by a $15,500 pace. In the Saturday (Oct. 29) feature, Mike Casilino and trainer Dylan Davis’ Win A New Day drew the rail and seeks a fourth consecutive win and sixth in his last eight outings.
The box is open Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. for the Sunday (Oct. 30) draw. The Monday (Oct. 31) draw will be held on Thursday (Oct. 27) morning. To enter for Tuesday (Nov. 1), horses must be dropped in to go on Saturday (Oct. 29).
A reminder to horsemen: No entry will be accepted on horses whose Coggins test has expired. Proof of Coggins may be faxed to the Delaware Harness Racing Commission at 302.857.3272.
