Montpelier, OH — The Williams County Fair at Montpelier, Ohio, concluded its two-day meet with a 13-race program on Tuesday night (September 13). Eight harness races were contested, as well as five Trottingbred races. Stick-horse races for kids rounded out the evening’s festivities.
Jesse’s Touch (Jailhouse Jesse-Touching Heaven) captured the 2-year-old colt trot in 2:06.4. The Park Stable pays the bills on Jesse’s Touch with Tom Moore, Jr. doing the training and driving.
Trainer-driver Tom Marts, Jr. steered Friskie D (Feelin Friskie-Double E Hanover) to victory in the 2-year-old filly pace. Ben Ott owns the filly, who paced her mile in 2:12.4.
Justabout (Victory Sam-Over Proximity) came home first in the 3-year-old filly trot after a mile in 2:09.3. Tom Moore, Jr. is the filly’s trainer-driver with Tom Moore, Sr. picking up the expenses.
Gary Gilliland’s Arizona Dawn (Dawn Ofa New Day-Cinder Tempe) took the 3-year-old colt pace with a mile in 2:02.3. Gilliland also trains the gelding with Mark Headworth doing the driving.
The action at the Williams County Fair also ended the racing in the Northwestern Ohio Colt Racing Association for 2011. The division champions and runners-up, along with various other award winners, will be honored at the Association’s awards banquet on November 19.
