Caviar Forthe Lady breezes in Meadows F&M trot
Washington, PA — Stuck with post 9 in a tough field, Caviar Forthe Lady took matters into her own hands by bursting to the lead and permitting no serious challenges en route to a dominating victory in Wednesday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Trot at The Meadows.
Caviar Forthe lady, a 5-year-old daughter of SJ’s Caviar-Croupier Lady, easily shrugged off the first-over bid by Victory Is Coming and scored at 10-1 in a lifetime-best 1:54, 3/4 lengths better than the pocket-sitting Careless Love. Hawaiianphotograph rallied for show.
Dan Charlino drove for trainer Marty Wollam and Acadia Farms. With the win, Caviar Forthe Lady extended her career bankroll to $493,281.
Brett Miller drove four winners and Aaron Merriman three on the 13-race card.

Vernon Downs
Favorite Eagle Hilarious went from last to first before winning Thursday night’s $10,000 featured first race at Vernon Downs in 1:53. Leaving from the outside sixth spot against five quick-footed rivals in the week’s feature for female pacers, Eagle Hilarious ($5.20) advanced patiently from last at the quarter. The 7-year-old mare was fifth entering the stretch and then closed rapidly from fourth in the final sixteenth (final split in :27.1) to defeat the mile-cutting By All Means by a neck. Thursday’s tight tally was the second at the meet, fourth this season and 26th all-time for the bay daughter of Dragon Again-Cyclebred, who is trained and driven by Claude Huckabone, III and owned by Hugo Iodice. She advanced her lifetime earnings to nearly $300,000.
Saratoga Casino and Raceway
The $18,000 Fillies and Mares Open was the Thursday feature at Saratoga Casino and Raceway. The race saw a first-time winner get the job done. Terror Rising had hit the board in four straight races in the claiming ranks and tried her luck in the feature for the first time. The Paul Zabielski-trained 4-year-old had the daunting task of coming first over against the race’s favorite Slomotion. Terror Rising (Western Terror) passed the test with flying colors and came on in the final strides to edge out Slomotion (Billy Dobson) and record her first Open win at the Spa. The win time of 1:53.4 served as a lifetime mark for Terror Rising. Jim Devaux piloted the mare to the first over upset on Thursday night, prevailing at odds of 14-1. Slomotion held strong for second to hit the board in the Open for the fourth consecutive time while Bryan’s Ideal (Gerry Mattison) earned the show spot.
