Thursday’s (August 11) edition of Racing Roundup features a results story from Saratoga Casino and Raceway. Devaux wins five at Saratoga Saratoga Springs, NY — A win in the Thursday night feature was the highlight of a monster evening for driver Jim Devaux at Saratoga Casino and Raceway. The veteran reinsman piloted Terror Rising to a score in the Open for filly and mare pacers, one of five victories on the night for the 44- year-old.
Terror Rising (Western Terror) had a carbon copy trip from that of last week as she was forced to come after the race’s favorite while first over. The Paul Zabielski trained 4-year-old fought gamely on the outside before grinding the favorite into submission and holding off a pair of other rivals for the victory in the $18,000 Open. The Assassinator (Mark Beckwith) followed the winner’s cover to finish second while Slomotion (Chris Long) ran third, hitting the board for the fifth consecutive time in the local Open. Terror Rising stopped the timer in 1:55 on Thursday, just one week after setting a lifetime mark in 1:53.4.
For Jim Devaux, it was the biggest night of the 2011 racing season as he compiled five wins for the first time, securing victories with Zabielski’s Miss Johnson and Ooby Dooby as well as scores sitting behind Bama Go Go and Four Starz Dlivery. With the big night, Devaux vaulted up into seventh in the 2011 driver standings.
Live racing continues on Friday night at Saratoga with a first post time of 7:20 p.m.
