Monday’s (Oct. 10) edition of Racing Roundup features a results story from Saratoga Casino and Raceway. Pair of Billings trots in the spotlight at Saratoga Saratoga Springs, NY — The Columbus Day matinee at Saratoga Casino and Raceway has included the C.K.G. Billings Amateur Trot for years now and on a beautiful Monday afternoon in Saratoga there were two divisions for amateur drivers on the 12-race program.

REL Postage Due was a winner in 2:01.4 for Simeon Hunsdon.
Two names familiar to winning in the Billings at the Spa got it done once again on the holiday card. Simeon Hunsdon and Anthony Verruso made familiar trips to the winner’s circle.
Hunsdon owns REL Postage Due (Air Mail Hanover) and he piloted her to a wire-to-wire victory in 2:01.4. The second choice in the betting, REL Postage Due was convincing while recording her fifth win of the season.
Anthony Veruso’s Sam’s Honeybee (Victory Sam) sat just off the early speed in her division of the Billings Amateur Trot, only to move first over with authority. The lone mare beat the boys, drawing clear to prevail in 2:01, recording her first victory of the year. Sam’s Honeybee went off at odds of 6-1 despite starting from the rail in Monday’s tilt.
Verruso and Hunsdon continued their winning ways at the Spa as both veteran amateur drivers seem to have success almost yearly while competing in the Billings at Saratoga.
