Tuesday’s (August 2) edition of Racing Roundup features a results story from Saratoga Casino and Raceway. Veteran Breeze Hill Will extends winning streak to five Saratoga Springs, NY — Veteran trotter Breeze Hill Will continues to defy father time and on Tuesday night set yet another record at Saratoga Casino and Raceway. The 14-year-old posted his fifth win in a row and tenth of the season with a front running effort for driver Jay Randall on Tuesday’s 12-race program at the Spa.
Trained by leading conditioner Jackie Rousse, Breeze Hill Will (King Conch) went wire-to-wire for the fourth straight week, stopping the timer in 1:59, besting his own record for a 14-year-old gelding at Saratoga. The win time matched the mark set this year by the mare Riverofglory as the fastest in track history for any 14-year-old trotter.
Going 10 for 20 thus far in 2011, Breeze Hill Will has now scored 69 lifetime victories in just shy of 400 career races. It is unfortunate for the veteran, who has earned over $723,000 in his illustrious career, that he will be forced out of competing in pari-mutuel races after this year as per Standardbred rules because he has never been sharper.
Live racing continues on Wednesday night at Saratoga with first post time set for 7:20 p.m.
