Tucson, AZ — Doug Reed, former University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program director and longtime racing executive announced full-time pursuit of his consulting practice as principal for Racing, Gaming & Entertainment LLC.
Reed’s focus will be on operations, strategy, innovation and a strong network to partner with others domestically and internationally as the resources are needed.
Besides his individual consulting work on numerous projects, Reed has partnered on several large projects in the past. Those included an industry review and business plan for the Trinidad and Tobago horse racing industry done with John Sanchez, former gaming executive with Parx Casino. Reed also partnered with Dr. Margaret Ray, University of Mary Washington, on an analysis of the Prairie Meadows Racing Program with recommendations for improvements.
More recently Reed is partnering with Hai Ng, co-founder and partner for Neomancer LLC an esports and iGaming expert and technologist and Drew Holt-Kentwell, former head of esports at Razer and founder of Catalyst eSports Solutions. The team is in discussions with several organizations to collaborate on bringing a new demographic to those facilities through the rapidly growing market of video gamers.
Mike Weiss, another longtime racing executive, and Reed are collaborating their efforts to offer services to niche racetracks, fair race meets and multi-use entertainment facilities that may not have the network or continuity of full time racing/entertainment executives to manage the horse racing and entertainment operations and grow the business.
“I look forward to utilizing my background as a customer, racing executive and director of the school of racing in a new way to hopefully unfreeze the old model of the business and facilitate business experimentation and change,” says Reed.
Besides Reed’s background in racing/gaming, he has a bachelor’s of science in mathematics and an MBA from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona. Other former clients of Reed include Hoosier Park/CDI, Korea Racing Authority, Sun Ray Gaming, International Securities Exchange (Longitude), NM Horse Breeders Association, Ladbroke, Horse Racing Alberta, Navarez Law Firm (NM Horse Racing Commission), Centaur Inc. and the Arizona Attorney General.
